Vita
Justus Wolf, born 2000 in Mainz, is a German composer, arranger and keyboardist.
When he was nine years old he started playing the pipe organ, at the age of eleven he discovered the saxophone. During his teenage years, he performed in concerts as an organist, including with the cathedral choir in Mainz. He also played saxophone in a Big Band and at the state theater of Mainz. After completing his classical and church musical education at the age of 17, his interest shifted towards synthesizers and Jazz/Pop music. He began focusing on playing keyboards in bands and started composing and producing his own songs. He gained a wealth of experience as a keyboardist in two Funk/Pop bands, where he continues to perform today. These experiences have been instrumental in helping him develop his musical language and aesthetic approaches in his compositions.
In October 2022, he commenced his studies in Jazz/Rock/Pop composition and piano at the 'Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber' in Dresden. Since then, he has had the opportunity to work on exciting projects for various ensembles, including arrangements for small orchestra and vocals, performed by members of the Metropole Orchestra and Carla Stoop, as well as compositions for the German Army Orchestra and the state theater Dresden as part of an opera production.
Since March 2024 he is working on his debut album together with the composer and vibist Arthur Clees.
In the same month, he created part of the film score for the documentary “Healing Roots”, which was nominated and awarded at numerous international festivals, including the IdieX Film Fest Los Angeles, Istanbul Film Festival, and Rome Film Festival.
Furthermore, from March 2023-Febuary 2024 he has been the recipient of the German scholarship (“Deutschlandstipendium”) from the Hans Thomann Foundation.
Since October 2024 he has been a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation (“Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes”.
Justus has always been intrigued by the versatility of contemporary music styles, ranging from Pop to Jazz and even new music. This intrigue inspires him to combine elements and sounds from these styles in his compositions, creating exciting musical atmospheres and conveying emotional, personal stories. His goal is to always connect with people through his music and provide them an escape from reality.
